Police Foil Attack On Sokoto Village, Recover Ammunition
Police in Sokoto State say they foiled an attack on Tauma Village in Bodinga Local Government Area and recovered ammunition after the attackers fled into nearby bush.
The command said the operation followed a distress call on the night of July 25 that a large number of armed bandits were attacking the community. Tactical teams, including the Anti-Kidnapping Unit and the Violence Crime Response Unit, were deployed to the area.
Daily Trust and Daily Post both reported that the security team exchanged fire with the attackers and forced them to retreat with suspected gunshot wounds. A search of nearby bushes led to the recovery of five magazines containing 40 rounds of live ammunition.
The reports said no casualties were recorded among residents or security personnel during the operation. Police said confidence-building patrols were carried out after the attack to reassure the community.
The police report concerned Tauma Village in Bodinga Local Government Area. The confirmed details are the Bodinga response, the ammunition recovery and the police claim that the attack was repelled without recorded casualties.
