Police Disown Fake Statement On Training Of 50,000 Recruits

The Nigeria Police Force has disowned a statement circulating online which claimed that training had been ordered for 50,000 newly recruited constables.

The Force said the document was fake and was not issued or authorised by any police organ, even though it was presented with official-looking formatting.

The false notice claimed that successful candidates should check the police recruitment portal from September 14 for their training institutions and resumption dates. It also falsely linked the claim to the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu.

Police warned members of the public to disregard the document and rely only on verified police communication channels for recruitment information.

Punch and Daily Post both reported the disclaimer and the same central detail: the police denied approving any such statement on training 50,000 recruits.
