Police confirm helicopter crash in Igbokoda; casualty details unknown
The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed a reported helicopter crash in the Igbokoda area of Ilaje Local Government Area on Monday, October 5.
The aircraft’s identity, the number of people on board and any casualty figures had not been confirmed in the available accounts. The cause of the crash was also unknown.
Police spokesperson Jimoh Abayomi told Vanguard that details were still emerging and that efforts were continuing to establish the circumstances.
He urged residents of Igbokoda and neighbouring communities to remain calm and avoid circulating unverified information. The command said it would provide further information once credible details became available.
Earlier reports had relied on residents’ accounts. Daily Post, citing Sahara Reporters and a resident, reported the crash but said passenger and survivor details remained unclear. It quoted the police spokesperson as saying he had not yet been informed and would make inquiries, before Vanguard’s later report of police confirmation.
A community leader quoted by Vanguard also said the exact crash location was not immediately known.
