Police Arrest Six Over Mob Killing Of Two Travellers In Kaduna
Kaduna police have arrested six suspects after two travellers were killed by a mob following false allegations that they were kidnappers.
The victims were identified as Muhammadu Sani, 45, and Aliyu Mohammed, 40, both from Umar Village in Igabi Local Government Area. They were travelling on a motorcycle to Tudun Wada, Zaria, to visit a sick uncle when the attack happened.
Police said the incident occurred on July 1 at Gidan Kalu Village in Birnin Yero Local Government Area, a few kilometres from Maraban Jos.
The Kaduna State Police Command said the victims were wrongly accused of being kidnappers and thieves before they were attacked and killed.
According to the police, the six suspects are in custody while investigators work to identify other people believed to have taken part in the mob action.
The command warned residents against jungle justice and asked the public to report suspicions to security agencies instead of taking the law into their own hands.
