Police Arrest Four Over Alleged Plot To Kill Anambra Businessman

Police in Anambra State have arrested four men over an alleged plot to kill a businessman and take over his landed properties in Ukwulu, Dunukofia Local Government Area.

The suspects were named as Obiora Nwankwo, 38; Chiadikobi Okoye, 36; Emmanuel Mboko, 42; and Ifeanyi Obi, 37. Police said they were arrested at different locations in Ukwulu and Amichi on Wednesday after intelligence led officers to move against the alleged plan.

The state police spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga, said operatives of the Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu, worked with Agunechemba security personnel attached to Amichi and Nnewi during the operation.

Police said two firearms and live ammunition were recovered. They said early findings linked the suspects to a plan to murder a citizen and take over his landed properties, but added that investigation was still ongoing to establish the full circumstances and the role each suspect allegedly played.

The command said the suspects remained in custody and would face prosecution after investigations are concluded. The victim’s name was not disclosed in the police statement.
