Police, Amotekun rescue two kidnap victims in Ondo forest operation

Two kidnap victims have been rescued in Ondo State after police, Amotekun operatives and local security volunteers moved into a forest route around Isua-Akoko.

The Ondo State Police Command said three suspected kidnappers were arrested during the operation. Punch named the suspects as Abdullahi Abubakar, Ibrahim Abubakar and Oseni Abubakar, all residents of Akunnu in Akoko North-East Local Government Area.

The operation followed intelligence that suspected kidnappers hiding along the Ifira-Idoani axis were planning to come out to collect ransom. Security operatives laid an ambush on the route and later recovered N1.5 million from the suspected kidnappers’ den, according to the police account.

Police spokesperson Abayomi Jimoh said the rescue involved operatives from Isua Division, Amotekun and Agbe-Koya. Daily Post also reported that the command confirmed the rescue of the two victims and the arrest of three suspects.

The police said the suspects remained in custody as investigation continued.
