Peter Obi has asked the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and other institutions he attended to release his academic records to anyone making a lawful request.

The 2027 presidential candidate said on Tuesday that people seeking Nigeria’s highest office should be ready for public scrutiny, especially over their qualifications and official records.

The request followed reports of a suit filed by Abayomi Arabambi, a former Labour Party spokesperson, against UNN over access to records linked to Obi’s Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy certificate. Premium Times reported that Arabambi asked for a certified true copy of certificate number D000198 and related academic records under the Freedom of Information Act.

Channels TV reported that Obi said UNN should make his certificates, records and other official documents available within the limits allowed by law. Daily Trust also reported that Obi named other institutions where he attended executive programmes and said he had nothing to hide.

Obi urged other presidential candidates to make their own educational qualifications available for lawful scrutiny, saying the process should be fair and consistent.
