Passenger dies after commercial bus crashes at Ojuelegba axis in Lagos
A male passenger has died after a commercial Volkswagen bus crashed around Ogunlana Junction, inward Ojuelegba, in Surulere, Lagos.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority said the bus, with registration number LND 130 XR, veered into a median pole along the Ojuelegba axis. The agency said preliminary reports alleged that the driver had been under the influence of alcohol and was driving recklessly before the crash.
LASTMA said the passenger jumped from the moving vehicle during the confusion and later died from the injuries he sustained. Its officers moved to the scene during traffic surveillance and helped manage the incident.
LASTMA General Manager Olalekan Bakare-Oki urged motorists to check their vehicles before trips and avoid dangerous driving.
