Pantami wins PDP Gombe governorship primary rerun
Isa Ali Pantami has won the Peoples Democratic Party governorship primary rerun in Gombe State.
The former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy polled 2,054 votes in the direct primary conducted across the state’s 11 local government areas on Tuesday. Khamisu Mailantarki scored 389 votes, while Aliyu Garry scored 112.
Channels Television reported that the results were announced at the PDP state secretariat in Gombe by Johnbull Shekarau, chairman of the governorship primary rerun committee. Premium Times reported that 2,555 voters were registered for the exercise.
The rerun followed a September 24 Federal High Court judgment that nullified the earlier primary and ordered the PDP to conduct a fresh exercise. NaijaTrend earlier reported that ruling here.
The court had acted on challenges to the first primary by rival aspirants. Both reports said the rerun was held after the party was directed to repeat the process in line with its rules and the Electoral Act.
