Oyo Receives Two Surveillance Aircraft For Security Operations

Oyo State has taken delivery of two surveillance aircraft bought to support security operations across the state.

The aircraft arrived at the Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport in Ibadan on Tuesday. The state government said they would help with aerial surveillance, intelligence gathering and faster security response in Oyo and nearby areas.

Commissioner for Information Dotun Oyelade said the delivery followed earlier reassembly work at the Nigerian Air Force hangar in Lagos. Governor Seyi Makinde had said on July 18 that the aircraft were already in Nigeria and were being prepared for deployment.

Channels Television reported that the state first announced the purchase on July 8, 2025. Makinde later said the aircraft would support security agencies, including in response to cases such as the Oriire school abduction.
