Oyo State has imposed a 16-hour curfew in 10 local government areas around the Old Oyo National Park as security forces continue efforts to rescue abducted schoolchildren and teachers.

Channels TV reported that Governor Seyi Makinde approved the curfew through a memo issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof Musibau Babatunde. Daily Trust and Punch also reported the government order.

The curfew runs from 4pm to 8am and takes effect from Wednesday, June 24, 2026. The government said it would last for 48 hours in the first instance.

The affected councils include Oriire, Orelope, Irepo, Saki West, Saki East, Atisbo, Itesiwaju, Iseyin, Olorunsogo and Atiba, according to Channels TV.

Punch reported that the order affects areas around the national park where victims of the May 15 attack on schools in Oriire Local Government Area are believed to be held. NaijaTrend earlier reported the search for the abducted victims here.

The latest order followed protests over the abduction and renewed pressure on the state and federal authorities to secure the release of the victims.
