Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has dissolved his cabinet ahead of his second-term inauguration on Friday, October 16.

The Secretary to the State Government, the Chief of Staff and the Chief Press Secretary will remain in office. The governor announced the dissolution at a valedictory meeting of the State Executive Council in Ado-Ekiti on Monday.

The meeting took place at the Executive Council Chamber in the Governor’s Office as the administration’s first four-year term draws to a close. Oyebanji was re-elected in the June 20 governorship election.

Oyebanji thanked the outgoing cabinet members for their work in implementing his administration’s policies and programmes. He said their contributions had helped his government deliver on its promises and assured them that he would remain in contact.

The outgoing members also spoke about their time in government and thanked the governor for the opportunity to serve. The session included thanksgiving and the cutting of a valedictory cake.

The cabinet’s dissolution follows an earlier directive ending appointments to state boards, commissions and parastatals, with exemptions for specified statutory bodies. NaijaTrend reported that directive here.
