Osas Ighodaro Joins International Cast of Action-Comedy Boyz Trip Filming in Cape Town
Nollywood Goes Global Again
Osas Ighodaro has joined the cast of “Boyz Trip,” a new action-comedy currently filming in Cape Town, South Africa. She is the only Nollywood actor in the film’s lineup, which brings together talent from Hollywood and beyond.
Directed by Kyle Scott, the film is described as a high-energy story of brotherhood tested by international chaos. Ighodaro joins American actors Woody McClain, known for his role in Power Book II: Ghost, and Hakeem Kae-Kazim, the Nigerian-British actor whose credits span from Hotel Rwanda to Black Sails.
The casting announcement came on April 16, just as principal photography got underway in Cape Town. For Ighodaro, this adds to an already busy period. The Tinsel star has been one of Nollywood’s most visible faces in recent years, and this move into an international production signals the industry’s growing reach.
A Growing Trend
Ighodaro’s casting fits a broader pattern. Nollywood actors are increasingly landing roles in international productions, and the flow goes both ways. Foreign filmmakers are setting up shop in African locations, drawn by lower production costs and fresh visual backdrops.
“Boyz Trip” is being positioned as a commercial play. The South Africa setting, the international cast, and the action-comedy genre all point toward a film designed to travel well beyond Nigeria’s borders. No release date has been announced yet.
For Nollywood, the question is no longer whether its talent can compete on the global stage. The question is how fast the pipeline grows. Each new casting like this one makes the next one easier to imagine.
