The Ondo State Police Command has arrested four officers seen in a viral video making ethnically insensitive remarks during a stop-and-search encounter with a motorist on the Lagos-Benin Expressway.

The video drew public anger after one of the officers was heard threatening the motorist and referring to his ethnicity. The motorist was reported to have challenged the officers during the encounter, which later spread widely on social media.

The command’s spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, said the officers had been identified, arrested and placed under investigation. The command said the conduct shown in the video did not reflect the standards expected of police personnel.

Punch and Daily Post both reported the arrest on Friday, with the same core details: four officers, a viral Lagos-Benin Expressway encounter, and official confirmation from the Ondo State Police Command.

The case adds to pressure on the Nigeria Police Force to act quickly on misconduct caught on video, especially where allegations involve extortion, ethnic profiling or abuse of motorists during highway checks.
