The Ogun State Police Command has begun an investigation into the killing of retired Ogun State Television broadcaster Kitan Oyesiku and her security guard at her residence in Abeokuta.

Oyesiku, popularly known as “Aunty Kitan,” was found dead at her home in the Kobape area of the Ogun State capital on Sunday. Daily Post reported that suspected assailants invaded the residence in the early hours of the day.

The body of her security guard was discovered inside the security post, while Oyesiku’s body was later found inside her apartment.

Ogun police spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said detectives were deployed to the scene after the incident was reported at the Owode Egba Division by a resident of Iyana Agodo Village.

According to the police, preliminary checks showed signs of forced entry and disturbance within the premises. Babaseyi also said Oyesiku’s vehicle was found to be missing.

“The Ogun State Police Command has commenced a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deaths of renowned broadcaster and retired Ogun State Television (OGTV) personality, Kitan Oyesiku, and her security guard,” the police statement said.

The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Bode Ojajuni, has ordered detectives to track down the attackers. The command said surveillance and intelligence operations had been expanded across relevant locations.

Vanguard reported that Oyesiku was a former Senior Programme Producer with OGTV and was widely known in media circles for her years of work at the station.

The police urged residents to remain calm and provide any useful information that could help investigators identify those behind the killings.
