The Ogun State Police Command has arrested seven suspects and recovered a stolen Toyota Venza, three firearms, an operational vehicle, 17 mobile phones, a laptop and N1.1 million in a series of intelligence-led operations across the state.

Daily Post reported that the command’s spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said the arrests were made in Ilaro, Ibafo, Mowe, Adatan and Ode-Remo areas of the state.

The suspects — Bola Salau, 42; Segun Balogun, 25; Ankpa James; Tunde Ogunseye, 41; Owodunni Seun, 36; Emmanuel Friday; and Tunde Abioye — were arrested for offences including armed robbery, one-chance robbery, fraud, unlawful possession of firearms and cultism.

Daily Post reported that the first two suspects were intercepted with a stolen blue Toyota Venza during a routine stop-and-search operation along the Oja-Odan/Ilaro Road. A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of its original registration documents concealed beneath the carpet.

Detectives traced the rightful owner in Ede, Osun State, who confirmed that the vehicle had been stolen during a violent armed robbery attack on his residence on June 23, 2026.

Operatives of the Ibafo Division also arrested two suspected members of a one-chance robbery syndicate operating along the Magboro axis after a woman reported being dispossessed of her Samsung A16 phone valued at N295,000 and N120,000 cash.

In Mowe, Ankpa James was arrested for allegedly defrauding a 21-year-old of N1.2 million under the false pretence of facilitating his travel to Luxembourg. The police recovered N1.1 million and released it to the complainant on bond.

Punch also reported the arrests.
