The Nigeria Immigration Service has extended the special passport intervention exercise for Nigerians in the United Kingdom, with the next round scheduled to run from October 6 to October 30, 2026. The Service said the extension was approved by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, following high turnout and sustained demand from Nigerians residing in the UK.

According to a public announcement signed on September 25 by the Service Public Relations Officer, DCI Akinsola Akinlabi, the October round will hold at designated centres in London, Manchester and Aberdeen, while the venue for Cardiff is still to be announced.

All intending applicants are required to book an appointment before visiting the centres. The Service said applicants should schedule their visits through the provided portal or the Nigeria High Commission’s website and keep strictly to their allocated dates and times, a measure it said is meant to keep the process orderly and minimise delays.

Applicants attending the intervention centres must bring a completed application form, proof of payment slips, their intervention appointment printout and a self-addressed return envelope. Those applying for the renewal of current passports were asked to come along with their passports.

The Service also reminded applicants that cash would not be accepted at the intervention venues, and that the Contactless Passport Application System remains available for those who prefer not to visit the centres.

The UK exercise opened on September 7 to clear backlogs of new applications, renewals and pending cases, and NIS reported 5,099 enrolments by its twelfth day, with production and dispatch of passports running alongside enrolment. In an earlier report here, the Service put the running total past 5,000 after 516 applicants were enrolled on a single Saturday across London and Manchester.

Applicants were advised to follow official channels for updates on the Cardiff venue and on appointment slots for the October round.
