NECO releases 2026 SSCE results as 58.67% earn five credits including English and maths

NECO has released the 2026 Senior School Certificate Examination results, with 804,948 candidates obtaining five credits and above including English Language and Mathematics.

The figure represents 58.67 per cent of candidates who sat the examination. NECO’s Registrar and Chief Executive, Dantani Wushishi, announced the results on Thursday at the council’s headquarters in Minna.

Wushishi said 1,378,048 candidates registered for the examination, made up of 682,352 males and 695,696 females. Of that number, 1,371,992 candidates eventually sat for the exam.

NECO also said 1,162,118 candidates, or 84.70 per cent, obtained five credits and above regardless of whether English Language and Mathematics were included.

The council reported 1,496 malpractice cases, down from 3,878 in 2025. That fall is one of the stronger signals in the result release, but the pass-rate figures will matter most to candidates seeking admission or other next steps that require English and mathematics credits.
