NDLEA Intercepts 1.63 Million Tramadol Pills In Kano-Bound Trucks

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has intercepted 1.63 million tramadol pills hidden in two Kano-bound trucks, according to reports from Channels TV and Daily Trust.

The pills were concealed in fabricated compartments beneath the cargo floors of two articulated trucks on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi said the first truck was intercepted on July 2 with 853,000 pills of tramadol 250mg. A second truck was tracked and intercepted on July 4 with another 777,000 pills hidden in a similar compartment.

The agency said the operation followed the earlier seizure of 558,900 tramadol pills from the same route, bringing recent interceptions linked to the syndicate to more than 2.18 million pills.

Daily Trust reported that the agency linked the seizure to a suspected transnational trafficking route through Togo, Benin Republic and Nigeria.

The agency also announced other arrests in Rivers State and other parts of the country, including suspects linked to synthetic cannabis and other drug operations.
