NDLEA Destroys 12 Tonnes Of Illicit Drugs In Kano
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has publicly destroyed over 12,233 kilograms of illicit drugs seized during operations across Kano State and at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport.
Daily Post reported that the exercise was carried out by the NDLEA Kano Strategic Command on Monday and involved cannabis, heroin, cocaine, tramadol, codeine, methamphetamine and other substances confiscated through intelligence-led operations and forfeited by the courts.
The agency said the destruction was led by the Commander of the Kano Strategic Command, CN Dahiru Yahaya Lawal, as part of its War Against Drug Abuse campaign.
Punch also reported the destruction, saying the command destroyed 12,234.946kg of assorted illicit drugs.
According to Daily Post, the command disclosed that since January 2026, it had arrested 904 suspects and secured 54 convictions.
The statement said the seized consignments resulted from intelligence-led operations, targeted raids and sustained enforcement, including Operations Sharar Mafaka and Ramadan Mubarak.
