The NDLEA in Edo State says it arrested 68 suspected drug traffickers and seized 7,531.51 kilogrammes of narcotic drugs during operations in August 2026.

Edo State Commander Mitchell Ofoyeju gave the figures while presenting the command’s August scorecard in Benin. The suspects were 34 men and 34 women.

The agency said cannabis made up most of the seizure, with 7,524.83 kilogrammes recovered or destroyed. Other seized substances included 5.3311 kilogrammes of psychotropic substances, 0.0668 kilogrammes of methamphetamine and 34.8 litres of codeine syrup.

Ofoyeju said the command destroyed four cannabis farms covering about 2.57 hectares in Orhionmwon and Owan West local government areas. The farms were estimated to hold 6,433.33 kilogrammes of cannabis plants.

The command also said it rehabilitated 23 drug-dependent persons and enrolled 12 others for counselling as part of its drug-demand reduction work.
