Navy Finds 10,000-Litre Suspected Stolen Crude Reservoir In Delta

The Nigerian Navy says its personnel have uncovered a dugout reservoir holding about 10,000 litres of substance suspected to be stolen crude oil in Delta State.

The discovery was made on Wednesday in the Oteghele general area during an anti-crude oil theft operation by personnel of NNS Delta, according to a statement issued by the Director of Naval Information, Captain Abiodun Folorunsho.

Folorunsho said the operation followed intelligence on suspected illegal petroleum activity in the area.

The navy said the reservoir and its contents were handled according to established procedures to stop the suspected crude oil from being used for illegal activity.

It described the operation as part of continuing efforts to deny criminal operators access to stolen crude and dismantle structures used for oil theft.

The statement did not name any arrests linked to the discovery.
