Nasarawa Police Rescue Four Victims After Kidnap Attempt On Akwanga-Jos Road
Police in Nasarawa State say they rescued four kidnap victims after a gun battle with suspected kidnappers along the Akwanga-Jos Road.
The command said the incident happened around 9:40 p.m. on Tuesday near Megona Filling Station in Andaha, Akwanga Local Government Area, after officers received a distress call.
Punch and Daily Post reported that officers attached to the Andaha Division moved to the scene and came under fire from the suspects. Police said the attackers fled into the bush with suspected gunshot injuries after the exchange.
The four victims were rescued unharmed. Police also recovered provisions believed to have been stolen from a nearby shop and took them into custody as exhibits.
The state police spokesperson, SP Ramhan Nansel, said Commissioner of Police Shetima Jauro Mohammed had ordered a manhunt for the fleeing suspects.
Daily Post reported that the search was being carried out with military personnel, local vigilantes and hunters. The command urged residents to report suspicious movements, especially anyone seeking treatment for gunshot wounds.
