NAF says helicopter returned to base after precautionary landing in Makurdi
The Nigerian Air Force says a helicopter that made a precautionary landing on farmland in Makurdi, Benue State, has returned to base after an operation against suspected kidnappers.
The aircraft landed on Wednesday at Utur, Tse-Igboji, in Bar Council Ward. The location is along the Welfare Quarters–Mopol 13 Ring Road in the state capital.
NAF spokesperson Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame said the helicopter had provided close air support to ground forces operating in the Ogbadigbo area, near the Enugu–Benue boundary.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Ejodame said the operation disrupted the activities of suspected kidnappers and supported the advance of the ground forces.
He said the pilot chose to make the precautionary landing while returning to base, approximately 10 nautical miles from the airfield, in line with operational and safety procedures following combat missions.
