Military Says Borno Airstrikes Hit Boko Haram, ISWAP Groups

The military says air operations under Operation Hadin Kai hit Boko Haram and ISWAP groups in parts of Borno State between Friday night and the early hours of Saturday.

Vanguard reported that Captain Mohammed Goni, Acting Media Information Officer at the Headquarters Joint Task Force North East, said the strikes followed intelligence and surveillance missions that located suspected terrorist movements and gathering points.

According to the report, one armed reconnaissance platform tracked suspected terrorists around the Aduwa axis in Monguno Local Government Area before a strike was authorised. The military said a later assessment indicated that about 16 terrorists were affected at the first target and that another group of about 10 was later engaged after trying to regroup.

Goni also said a separate operation around Buratai in Biu Local Government Area struck another suspected terrorist gathering, with about 10 more targets affected.

The military said the operations were meant to disrupt terrorist attempts to assemble, regroup and move freely in the North-East. It also urged residents to keep giving timely information to security forces.
