Medical Academics Give FG Three Weeks To Resolve Demands

The Nigerian Association of Medical and Dental Academics has given the Federal Government three more weeks to conclude negotiations on its outstanding demands.

The association warned that if the issues are not resolved by August 31, 2026, it would declare a three-day warning strike.

The decision was contained in a communique issued after the association’s Emergency National Executive Council meeting in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. The communique was signed by NAMDA President, Dr Nosa Lancy Orhue, and Acting Secretary-General, Prof. Aniekan Peter.

NAMDA said the extension should be used by the government to settle the outstanding issues and allow further discussions toward a compromise.

The association also directed its branches to hold congress meetings and sensitisation programmes at least twice within the period, and to send evidence of the mobilisation activities to its national leadership.

Punch and Daily Post reported that the warning-strike decision would be announced by the association’s national officers if the government fails to reach a meaningful resolution before the deadline.
