French President Emmanuel Macron is expected to visit Nigeria before the end of 2026, two years after President Bola Tinubu made a state visit to Paris.

The French Ambassador to Nigeria and ECOWAS, Marc Fonbaustier, announced the planned visit during France’s National Day celebration in Abuja on Tuesday night.

Fonbaustier said the trip would allow both countries to review their strategic partnership and set fresh priorities for cooperation. He linked the planned visit to the bilateral roadmap discussed after Tinubu’s visit to France.

The envoy also said France wanted deeper work with Nigeria in areas including security, culture, business and youth-focused exchanges.
