Katsina Governor Dikko Radda

Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda has presented a proposed N828.64 billion budget for 2027 to the state House of Assembly, with the government putting most of the spending plan into capital projects.

The proposal, called “Building Your Future IV,” sets aside N637.91 billion, or 76.98 per cent, for capital expenditure. Recurrent spending is put at N190.73 billion, or 23.02 per cent.

The new proposal is N69.23 billion lower than the approved 2026 budget. Radda told lawmakers the reduction followed a review of expected revenue and spending needs, saying the state wanted a plan it could fund and implement.

The governor said the budget was built around fiscal discipline, revenue growth and project delivery. The plan will now go through legislative scrutiny before passage.

Education, health, infrastructure and economic programmes are expected to remain central to the state’s spending priorities, according to details reported from the presentation.

The budget presentation opens the formal legislative process for Katsina’s 2027 appropriation. Lawmakers are expected to review the estimates, conduct committee reviews where required and return the bill for approval.
