Kano Consumer Council Seizes 419 Cartons Of Expired Agrochemicals

The Kano State Consumer Protection Council has seized 419 cartons of expired agrochemicals from a facility on Club Road in the Kano metropolis.

The council said the operation followed intelligence that expired products had been kept at the location and could be reworked for return to the market. Officials sealed the premises while investigations continue.

Punch reported that the council’s executive secretary, Dr Ibrahim Garba-Muhammad, disclosed the seizure in a statement issued on Saturday by the Director of Public Enlightenment, Jamilu Mustapha. Daily Post reported the same figure and location, identifying the products as expired pesticides.

The council said the recovered products had passed their expiry dates and could pose risks if sold to the public. It said legal action would follow after the investigation.

Garba-Muhammad urged residents to report expired, adulterated or unsafe products to the council, especially where traders attempt to alter labels or reintroduce such goods into the market.
