Kaduna Police Rescue Nine Kidnap Victims, Lose Two Officers In Ambush
The Kaduna State Police Command says nine kidnap victims have been rescued in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area, while two police officers were killed in an ambush after the operation.
Channels TV reported that the victims were abducted around Unguwan Sa’idu village after armed bandits moved into the area on Wednesday.
The command’s spokesperson, DSP Mansir Hassan, said police teams and local security personnel moved to the scene after receiving intelligence about the abduction.
The officers engaged the bandits in a gun battle and forced them to flee on motorcycles, leaving the captives behind.
Daily Trust reported the same Kaduna rescue in a wider insecurity report that also covered a separate Katsina attack.
The rescued victims were found tied with ropes and later reunited with their families, according to the police account carried by both outlets.
The two officers were fatally shot while the security team was returning from the rescue mission.
