INEC opens recruitment portal for 2027 election ad hoc staff

The Independent National Electoral Commission has opened its online recruitment portal for ad hoc staff ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Punch and Daily Trust reported that the INEC Portal for Recruitment of Election Staff, known as INECPRES, opened at 8am on Friday, September 18, 2026. The application window is expected to close at midnight on Wednesday, November 18, 2026.

The recruitment covers temporary election workers who will be trained and deployed for specific polls. Punch reported that INEC plans to deploy about 1.4 million personnel across more than 176,000 polling units nationwide.

The presidential and National Assembly elections are scheduled for January 16, 2027, while governorship and state assembly elections are scheduled for February 6, 2027.

Daily Trust reported that available roles include Supervisory Presiding Officers, Presiding Officers, Assistant Presiding Officers, Registration Area Centre Managers and Registration Area Technical Support personnel.

Eligible applicants include serving NYSC members, some former corps members, students of federal and state tertiary institutions, eligible federal and state government employees, qualified INEC personnel and eligible ICT personnel.
