IG Deploys Tactical Teams To Plateau After Bokkos Attack Kills 20
The Inspector General of Police has deployed tactical teams to Plateau State after a deadly attack on Kawel community in Mushere District of Bokkos Local Government Area claimed at least 20 lives.
Punch reported that the IG deployed Assistant Inspector General Dankombo Morris from the Zone 4 headquarters in Makurdi to take charge of operations on the ground.
Additional Police Mobile Force units and tactical squads were deployed to restore peace in the affected area. AIG Morris visited Bokkos on Tuesday, where he met with local government officials and traditional rulers.
Police spokesperson DSP Alabo Alfred said the deployment was in response to the attack on Kawel community, where gunmen killed residents, health workers and security personnel on Sunday night.
The Bokkos LGA chairman, Hon. Amalau Samuel Amalau, welcomed the delegation and described the attack as a tragic and unprovoked act of criminality. He said the victims had already been buried.
NaijaTrend earlier reported here that sources gave different toll figures after the Bokkos community killing.
