Gunmen Kill Pregnant Woman, Youth In Fresh Plateau Riyom Attack
Gunmen have killed a pregnant woman and a young man during a fresh attack on Dyan community in Rim Village, Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Vanguard reported that the attackers stormed the area at about 10 p.m. on Friday and opened fire, killing the two victims and throwing residents into mourning.
The deceased were identified as Mrs Happiness Pam, 32, who was pregnant, and Daniel Luka, 24.
Daily Trust also reported the attack and quoted the Berom Youth Moulders Association, which condemned the killings in a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Mr Rwang Tengwong. The association described the attack as gruesome and unacceptable.
The BYM lamented the persistent insecurity confronting communities in Riyom and other parts of Plateau State, raising fresh concerns about the effectiveness of security efforts in the area.
The killings add to a wave of violence that has plagued Plateau communities, with repeated attacks on rural settlements despite military and police deployments.
