Gunmen Kidnap Two Ondo Farmers, Demand N100m Ransom

Two farmers have been kidnapped in Ondo State, with the abductors demanding N100 million for their release.

The attack happened around Parubber community in Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo Local Government Area while the victims were working on their farms. Reports said armed men took the farmers into a nearby forest after overpowering them.

Punch, Daily Post and Premium Times all reported the same incident and ransom demand. Premium Times identified one of the victims as Adetan Gbemi and said the second victim was a woman whose name had not yet been made public.

An eyewitness, Yemi Omowale, who escaped during the attack, told the outlets that one attacker carried an AK-47 rifle and that others emerged from different directions. The reports said the abductors later contacted the wife of one of the victims to demand payment.

Ondo police spokesperson Jimoh Abayomi said the command received a report at the Oke-Igbo Divisional Headquarters and had started a search operation. The team includes police operatives, the Anti-Kidnapping Squad, Amotekun personnel, local hunters and vigilantes.

Police said intelligence efforts were also underway to rescue the victims and arrest those behind the abduction. Residents were asked to provide useful information to security agencies.
