Gunmen Kidnap Two Farmers In Ondo, Demand N10m Ransom
Two farmers have been kidnapped around the Oke-Ifira/Idogun forest axis in Akoko South-East Local Government Area of Ondo State, with a relative saying the abductors demanded N10 million.
Premium Times reported that the incident happened on Saturday and was reported to the police and Amotekun Corps in the area. Vanguard also reported the abduction and the N10 million ransom demand.
Ondo police spokesperson Abayomi Jimoh confirmed that a report of missing persons had been received, but said the command was not aware of any ransom demand. He said a joint security team had been deployed to the affected area.
The team includes police officers, soldiers, Amotekun operatives, local hunters, Agbekoya operatives and community volunteers, according to the police account reported by Premium Times.
For now, the police position is that the search operation is under way, while relatives of the victims say the kidnappers have already made contact over ransom.
