Gateway Air Launches Domestic Flights Across Five Nigerian Cities Starting Today
Ogun State’s airline enters the domestic market
Ogun State-owned airline Gateway Air has started scheduled domestic flights connecting five Nigerian cities from Monday, April 13, 2026.
The launch was announced by Kayode Akinmade, Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to Governor Dapo Abiodun, who said the airline is part of the state government’s push to improve connectivity and give Nigerians more travel options.
Routes and fares
Gateway Air will fly the following routes: Iperu to Abuja, Abuja to Port Harcourt, Abuja to Calabar, Abuja to Jos, and Iperu to Kano. Flights operate on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Economy fares start at ₦100,000 one way.
The Iperu hub ties into the Gateway Agro-Cargo Airport, which the Ogun State government built as part of its broader infrastructure programme under the Abiodun administration.
More competition in domestic aviation
Gateway Air adds another carrier to Nigeria’s domestic aviation market, where competition has been heating up. Air travel demand within the country keeps growing, pushed by business travel, regional commerce, and the simple fact that road travel across long distances in Nigeria remains difficult and sometimes dangerous.
Akinmade’s statement encouraged passengers to book early and follow the airline’s official channels for schedule updates and additional information.
