FUOYE staff and students resist attempted arrest of vice-chancellor
Staff and students of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, resisted an attempt to arrest the university’s vice-chancellor, Prof. Joshua Ogunwole, in Ado-Ekiti on Wednesday.
The incident began after the vice-chancellor raised an alarm that policemen had surrounded his residence and that their purpose was unclear.
Members of the university community, including academic and non-academic staff and students, then moved to the residence and resisted the attempted arrest.
Daily Post reported that the confrontation caused tension in the area before the situation eased. The report did not include a police statement explaining the attempted arrest.
The university community maintained that due process should be followed in any action involving the vice-chancellor.
