FRSC warns motorists over fake traffic-offence SMS

The Federal Road Safety Corps has warned motorists and members of the public to ignore fake text messages claiming that new traffic offences have been recorded against them.

The corps said the messages direct recipients to a fake website, frscgov.top/ng, which has no connection with the FRSC. It said the links could be used to steal personal information, financial details and other sensitive data.

FRSC Public Education Officer Osondu Ohaeri said the corps’ official website remains frsc.gov.ng and that verified platforms are hosted through authorised digital channels.

The agency advised people not to click suspicious links, make payments or disclose banking details, passwords, driver’s licence information, vehicle registration details or other private information in response to the messages.
