Fresh Benue Attacks Kill At Least 15 In Otukpo Communities
Fresh attacks in Benue State have killed at least 15 people in communities in Otukpo Local Government Area, with local accounts still differing on the final death toll.
Daily Trust reported that at least 15 people were killed in attacks on Ugboju communities on Tuesday morning. It said 14 bodies had been recovered from Efeyi-Ugboju after an attack that began around 5am, while one person was killed earlier at Ipom community on Monday.
Vanguard reported a slightly higher figure, saying no fewer than 16 people were killed in renewed attacks across Otukpo and Kwande areas between Monday and Tuesday. Its report said the attackers also carted away motorcycles from fleeing farmers and that several residents were wounded.
Daily Trust’s lower figure is used in the headline, while Vanguard’s higher count is noted in the body. The locations and timing distinguish the attacks from an earlier Ohimini-area Benue story already covered by NaijaTrend.
