Four Abducted Zamfara Polytechnic Students Regain Freedom
Four remaining students abducted from Federal Polytechnic, Kaura Namoda, in Zamfara State have regained freedom after about seven weeks in captivity.
The release resolves the case reported earlier by NaijaTrend here, when students were taken from a lodge outside the campus.
The students were rescued in an operation involving the Department of State Services and other security forces, according to reports on the release.
Daily Trust reported that the students had been held since their abduction from a rented lodge outside the campus. Channels TV also reported that DSS and security forces rescued the four remaining kidnapped students.
The released students were identified in the reports as part of the group taken during the earlier attack around the polytechnic community. Their rescue brings relief to families who had waited for weeks after the incident.
Authorities have not released every operational detail, but the reports said security agencies were involved in securing the students’ freedom.
The development adds to continuing concern over attacks on students and schools in parts of the North-West, where families and school communities have repeatedly asked for stronger protection around campuses and host communities.
