FG Declares Tuesday Public Holiday For Eid Ul Mawlid
The Federal Government has declared Tuesday, August 25, 2026, a public holiday for Eid ul Mawlid.
Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo announced the holiday on behalf of the government in a Friday statement issued by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr Magdalene Ajani.
Punch, Daily Trust and Premium Times all reported the same date and announcement. The holiday marks Eid ul Mawlid, observed by Muslims to commemorate the birth of Prophet Muhammad.
Tunji-Ojo congratulated Muslims in Nigeria and abroad and urged citizens to use the period for reflection, compassion and service to others.
The minister also called for peaceful celebration and asked Nigerians to support national unity while observing the holiday.
