Fani-Kayode Receives Letters Of Credence For South Africa Posting
Femi Fani-Kayode has received his Letters of Credence as Nigeria’s High Commissioner to South Africa, with concurrent accreditation to Lesotho and Eswatini.
The formal step moves his appointment beyond the nomination stage and begins the process of reporting to Pretoria, where he is expected to present the documents to South African President Cyril Ramaphosa.
The documents were presented on behalf of President Bola Tinubu by the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye, after the necessary diplomatic approval was obtained.
Fani-Kayode, a former aviation minister, said he would begin the process of taking up the posting in Pretoria and thanked Tinubu for the confidence placed in him.
The development gives Nigeria a new diplomatic representative for South Africa at a time when relations with Pretoria remain closely watched because of recurring issues affecting Nigerians living there.
