False Kidnap Alarm Sparks Attack on Okada Rider in Ondo
A commercial motorcyclist was brutally attacked in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State, after a young woman allegedly raised a false alarm that he was trying to kidnap her.
Daily Trust reported that the incident happened on June 4 while the rider was conveying the woman within Ore. The accusation quickly spread and drew an angry crowd that beat the rider before police stepped in.
Police Say Kidnap Claim Was Unfounded
According to the Ondo State Police Command, preliminary investigation showed that the kidnapping allegation was false. Police spokesman DSP Abayomi Jimoh said the woman was taken into custody and that the injured rider received medical attention.
The command said it had opened a full investigation and warned that false accusations of kidnapping can easily trigger mob violence and public disorder.
