Delta Police Arrest 81 Suspects In Asaba Raids
Police in Delta State say they have arrested 81 suspects during raids on identified black spots in the Asaba metropolis.
The command said the July 24 operation targeted criminal flashpoints and led to the arrest of 50 males and 31 females. Police spokesperson Bright Edafe said tactical teams carried out the raids as part of an intelligence-led crime prevention effort.
According to the two reports, the suspects were arrested over alleged sale and possession of suspected illicit drugs and the operation of an illegal checkpoint at the Asaba-Onitsha Head Bridge.
Police said the exhibits recovered included large quantities of Tramadol and substances suspected to be Indian hemp. Five vehicles were also impounded for traffic-related violations during the operation.
The command said the suspects and exhibits remained in police custody while investigations continued. It warned people involved in criminal activity to stop or face prosecution.
