A Sokoto High Court has sentenced Ibrahim Usman, also known as Dan Iyali, to death over the kidnapping and killing of three people in Sokoto State.

The Department of State Services said the case arose from a September 2023 attack. Usman was tried at the High Court of Justice of Sokoto State, sitting in the Sokoto Judicial Division.

He faced a four-count charge alongside other suspects who were said to be at large. The charges included criminal conspiracy, kidnapping, culpable homicide punishable with death, and voluntarily causing grievous hurt without provocation.

Channels TV also linked the judgment to the same DSS case and noted that it followed an earlier Sokoto death sentence secured by the service against three other men in June 2026. That earlier case involved different convicts and separate terrorism and arms-proliferation allegations.
