Bauchi Assembly Member Mohammed Wanzam Zaki Dies After Brief Illness
The Bauchi State House of Assembly has been thrown into mourning following the death of the member representing Sakwa Constituency, Hon. Mohammed Wanzam Zaki.
Zaki died in the early hours of Sunday after a brief illness, according to an announcement by the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Abubakar Y. Suleiman.
Until his death, Zaki served as Chairman of the House Committee on Budget and Appropriation and was regarded as one of the key lawmakers in the Assembly.
In a statement issued by his spokesman, Mukhtar Garba Kobi, the Speaker described the late legislator as a devoted public servant who discharged his responsibilities with commitment and a strong sense of duty.
Suleiman said the deceased made valuable contributions to legislative activities and worked tirelessly in the interests of his constituents and the state.
The funeral prayer for the late lawmaker will take place at the Gwallaga Juma’at Mosque in Bauchi on Sunday. Governor Bala Mohammed also expressed grief over the death, describing it as a loss to Bauchi State.
