Abducted Oyo Principal Releases Fresh Distress Video, Begs Tinubu and Makinde Not to Use Force
An abducted principal from Oriire Local Government Area in Oyo State has released a fresh distress video, directly pleading with President Bola Tinubu and Governor Seyi Makinde to negotiate with her captors rather than use force to rescue hostages.
In the video obtained by multiple news outlets on Friday, the principal, identified as Rachael Alamu of LA Primary School Esiele, appeared visibly distressed with a gun barrel pointed at her. She warned that one of the captives had been singled out for execution following what she described as a failed forced rescue attempt.
‘They Should Not Use Force’
“They should not use force. The force they have used yesterday has caused us so much trouble,” Alamu pleaded in the video. “One of us has been picked that they are going to kill him.”
In a separate video delivered in Yoruba, she said the group was marking the 13th day of their captivity and appealed directly to the Nigeria Union of Teachers and the Christian Association of Nigeria to intervene.
A nursing mother among the captives, Mary Akanbi, also made a tearful appeal for help.
46 Persons Held Captive
The Baptist Church confirmed that 46 persons — including seven teachers, 38 pupils, and a toddler — were abducted in the May 15 attack on LA Primary School and Community Grammar School, Esiele. At least one teacher was killed during the raid.
Oyo State Commissioner for Information Dotun Oyelade confirmed that security forces — including the Army, Civil Defence, Police, and Amotekun — have sealed off escape routes in the National Park axis and are coordinating rescue operations.
A police spokesperson, Ayanlade Olayinka, said a forensic investigation of the video was underway, while security analysts suggested the kidnappers were feeling increasing pressure from the security cordon.
“Please, we are begging. This is our 13th day in the den with both the children and us, under the rain and scorching sun.” – Abducted Oyo school principal pleads with President Tinubu, Governor Makinde, and the public.
