Otedola Bridge crash worsens Lagos-Ibadan Expressway gridlock
A multiple-vehicle crash at Otedola Bridge on Wednesday worsened traffic on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, adding to delays already linked to repair work around Kara Bridge.
Channels TV reported that three trucks and two other vehicles were involved. It said no death was recorded, but some people sustained injuries and one victim trapped in a truck was rescued by FRSC, police, LASTMA and Lagos ambulance officials.
LASEMA said its response team arrived after a distress call and that the crash involved a containerised truck, a loaded trailer, a truck carrying a generator, a white Honda and a Lexus. Punch later reported that police said the road had reopened and urged motorists to drive with caution.
Vanguard reported that the incident compounded a wider gridlock linked to Kara Bridge repairs, with spillover traffic affecting nearby routes and commuters spending hours on the road.
