Airlines Seek FG Intervention In 5% Ticket Sales Charge Row

Airline operators have asked the Federal Government to step into the dispute over the five per cent Ticket Sales Charge, saying the row is adding pressure to Nigeria’s aviation sector.

Air Peace chairman Allen Onyema, who is also vice president of the Airline Operators of Nigeria, made the appeal during the 30th annual conference of the League of Airport and Aviation Correspondents in Lagos.

Daily Trust reported that the operators asked President Bola Tinubu to intervene, arguing that the dispute could worsen financial strain on airlines. Daily Post also reported the appeal and identified the charge as the five per cent Ticket Sales Charge.

The operators want the government to resolve the disagreement so airlines can plan operations with clearer costs.
