Ogun State has released N6.75 billion for gratuity and additional pension benefits, in a fresh payment round for retirees in the state.

The Head of Service, Olanrewaju Saka, said the release was part of the government’s effort to reduce outstanding pension obligations and improve welfare for retired workers.

Channels Television reported that N2.751 billion was released for gratuity payments to 432 beneficiaries, while another N4 billion was set aside for additional pension benefits.

Punch and Premium Times also reported the same N6.75 billion release. The reports said the state government linked the payment to Governor Dapo Abiodun’s continuing pension-liability programme.

The latest release adds to earlier state payments aimed at clearing arrears owed to retirees under the gratuity and pension benefit system.
